Bus and Shuttles
Palo Alto is served by many public transportation options. These range from cross-town shuttles to VTA/SamTrans to limited PAUSD Bus Service. Not every destination is served by transit but this a great place to see if this will work for your family.
Palo Alto Unified School District Bus
Palo Alto Unified School District (PAUSD) offers limited transportation to our students for a fee. All students must have a pass to ride the bus. Voluntary Transfer Program (VTP) and low-income students may be eligible for a free pass. For more information about this program click here.
Palo Alto Shuttle
The shuttle operates Monday through Friday during commute and midday hours. In recent years, the shuttle program expanded to serve more community needs, including improved service to the three middle schools and two high schools, all day service on the Cross-town shuttle, and more frequent commute service to and from the Caltrain station on the Embarcadero shuttle.
